Mike Aquino drives Overture innovation, quality, and growth. Overture Networks is at the heart of the virtualization transformation in the carrier-class networking world. Mike is guiding the Overture Team as it transitions quickly from telecom hardware powerhouse to software solution leader in network functions virtualization (NFV) orchestration. Mike’s career is notable for the value he creates for his companies and customers and for an unwavering commitment to innovation and quality. Prior to joining Overture, Mike held several senior leadership roles at Ciena, including senior vice president global field operations. At Ciena, he helped drive annual revenues from $350 Million in 2002 to more than $1.74 Billion in 2011. Mike assisted with the integration of Ciena acquisitions, including World Wide Packets and Nortel’s Metro Ethernet Networks business. In addition, Mike has been a leader at ONI Systems, Bay Networks, and IBM Corporation. Mr. Aquino holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Cathedral College in Queens, NY.
Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder
Prayson Pate is Overture’s Chief Technology Officer. He is charged with helping Overture anticipate and lead through major industry transitions and market shifts and with conveying Overture’s message to its customers and the larger industry. Most recently, he guided Overture’s own transition from telecom hardware powerhouse to innovation leader in orchestration solutions for new software-defined carrier-class networks. He is an evangelist for network functions virtualization (NFV), helping communication service providers (CSPs) and mobile operators create virtual environments optimized for agility and profit. He speaks often at industry events, posts to his blog at praysons-prate.blogspot.com, and shares NFV information, ideas, and guidance through bylined articles published by industry media. Prayson is an accomplished technologist who began his career in 1983 at FiberLAN. He has also worked for Bell Northern Research and Larscom, where he served as director of engineering before co-founding Overture in 2000. Prayson has contributed to standards bodies such as the MEF and IETF, and was chosen to be the co-editor of the pseudowire emulation edge-to-edge (PWE3) requirements and architecture documents (RFCs 3916 and 3985). Prayson received a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from North Carolina State University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Duke University. He is the holder of nine patents.
Greg Anglum oversees Overture’s financial and growth strategy, and he guides company operations with a personal commitment to maximizing value for all stakeholders. Greg is focused on ensuring Overture’s growth initiatives are balanced with investment for innovation and talent while maintaining a high level of integrity and transparency for employees and investors. Over his more than 20-year career, Greg has implemented successful financial and operations strategies for a variety of companies, while developing expertise in IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions as well as well as public and private placement offerings of debt and equity instruments across many industries. Prior to joining Overture, Greg was chief financial officer at StrikeIron, a Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) software company. He has also served as audit partner at Grant Thornton LLP, where he helped open and manage the office in Raleigh as it grew from 16 to 80 professionals. Greg began his career at Arthur Andersen. Greg holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. He is a certified public accountant.
Senior Vice President, Global Engineering
Sunil Menon is an innovator with more than 20 years experience creating, challenging, and leading large development organizations focused on building carrier-class networking software solutions and enterprise IT products and solutions. He is charged with developing and delivering new capabilities and solutions for Overture’s Ensemble Open Service Architecture to ensure the company continues to lead the charge in optimized orchestration tools for network functions virtualization (NFV). Prior to joining Overture, Sunil was director of engineering at Cisco Systems, Bangalore, where he was responsible for software engineering, product management, and sales enablement. He began his career in 1992 at Motorola Codex, subsequently moving to Cascade Communications. In 1997, he joined the founding team of Sonus Networks, a leader in carrier-class VoIP. He relocated to Bangalore in 2005 to develop and lead the Sonus engineering center in Bangalore. Sunil earned a master’s degree in computer engineering from Clemson University and an electrical engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He holds three patents.
Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Service
Chris Swan is the champion of Overture’s NFV Gets Real campaign. Chris directs all sales, sales support, and customer support efforts with the goal of making NFV real and profitable for every Overture customer. Chris is a successful sales executive who has to-date delivered more than $1 billion in technology solutions during his nearly 30 years in the global information and telecommunications technology industry. He was previously senior vice president of sales, marketing, and delivery at Narus Corporation. He has also held executive positions at Syndesis, Spirent, and Hekimian. Chris specializes in helping privately funded early-stage companies grow into profitable, high-value businesses. Chris has helped generate over $1.8 billion in shareholder value through the sale of his prior three ventures. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Virginia Tech and has received executive training from University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and University of Pennsylvania’s The Wharton School.
Betsy Creech guides Overture’s organizational strategy, focusing on team effectiveness, innovative leadership, and total rewards. As Overture transitions to a carrier-class network software solution leader, Betsy is guiding strategic talent planning and acquisition and fostering the company’s culture of innovation. Prior to joining Overture, she established and led human resources efforts for several Research Triangle area start-up technology companies. She has also served as senior director of human resources at Alcatel Network Systems during a period of explosive growth and major transition. Betsy started her career in human resources at Data General Corporation after earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and industrial relations from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Vice President, Product Management and Customer Service
Houck Reed shapes and leads the company’s vision for Ensemble Open Service Architecture go-to-market execution, innovative business solutions, and the Harmony Partner ecosystem to drive market leadership for Overture. He is responsible for building out the Ensemble solution orchestration and big data analysis tools and services that communication service providers (CSPs) and operators require to profit from new paradigms like Internet of Things (IoT) and expanding on-demand requirements. Prior to Overture, Houck was vice president of broadband network solutions, product management, marketing, and operations at Tekelec, a leading provider of network signaling, policy control, and subscriber data management solutions. Houck is credited with developing and driving Tekelec growth and value strategies that ultimately led to successful acquisition by Oracle in 2013. Houck has also served as director of product management at Symantec and has held product management roles at UTStarcom, Alcatel-Lucent, and Hyperion Software. Houck earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Yale School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago.

Barry Shapiro leads Overture’s supply chain, IT, quality, and logistics functions, driving innovation, growth, and world-class quality into the company’s products. His career spans 25 years of operations leadership at high technology companies including Hatteras Networks, EMC2, and Celestica.
Barry’s industry expertise includes telecommunications, infrastructure, industrial controls, servers, and data storage in North America, Europe, and Asia.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
