Business Services
Overture solutions are ideal for a variety of demanding business services applications.
Ubiquitous Ethernet Services
Every service provider and network operator wants to be able to reach more customer locations. No-one wants to lose business customers because they can’t reach all of the sites required. And making rational decisions on how to provide ubiquitous service quickly and how to spend finite CapEx resources are critical. For locations with fiber access, a native optical Ethernet solution is simply the most cost effective and scalable solution.
However, the majority of enterprise locations do not have fiber connectivity. According to Vertical Systems group, only 15% of European and 23% of US businesses have fiber access. A solution to leverage existing infrastructure is a smart way to provide ubiquitous service and stretch limited CapEx budgets.
Whether you can reach your customers using your optical network or need to go “off-net” on another operator’s network to access the customer site, Overture Networks can help you build a ubiquitous Ethernet service offering for your business customers. With solutions from Overture Networks, you can provide services to all your customer locations using any transport infrastructure. Overture delivers Ethernet edge and aggregation solutions for all types of transport infrastructure, including:
- Ethernet over optical fiber
- Ethernet over bonded copper
- Ethernet over bonded DS1/E1
- Ethernet over DS3/E3
- Ethernet over SONET/SDH
Efficient IP Service Aggregation
If you are currently terminating your growing business IP services using a service edge router outfitted with a channelized DS3, SONET or SDH interface, you understand the challenges – these interfaces are expensive, strain the performance of route processors, strand capacity of high performance interface slots, and in many cases are no longer available from the manufacturer. You also understand that life might be simpler if you don’t have to deploy a router in every co-location facility. With the Overture Networks, you can address all of these challenges and terminate your IP connections at the edge, and use simple Ethernet interfaces on your routers.
The Overture solution allows customers to use convenient solutions such as IP/PPP, IP/MLPPP or IP/FR on their customer premise routers and optimize with Fast Ethernet/GigE on the service edge. The Overture 6000 provides the interworking and aggregation between these two technologies for a cost effective and scalable solution.
On-ramp to Cloud Services
Without the network, there could be no cloud. Since Carrier Ethernet is the optimal networking solution for connection oriented services and the optimal Layer-2 for IP services, is also the optimal solution for cloud computing.
The virtualized services model of cloud computing has significant implications on today’s network, and how it is evolving to the network of tomorrow. The network impact of cloud computing is in fact so significant that any discussion on cloud computing should also include cloud networking.
As datacenters and cloud computing grow to incorporate more mission critical data, considerations such as disaster recovery, remote storage and offsite backup become critical priorities for enterprises of all sizes. In addition, recently enacted legislation has mandated off-site archival and protection of data for many industries. Ethernet is your primary connectivity choice within the datacenter. Shouldn’t it be the way you communicate among your datacenters?
We have developed Carrier Ethernet solutions for optical, copper and traditional carrier WAN circuits that allow you to extend Ethernet between datacenters, even if you don’t have access to fiber. Carrier Ethernet solutions from Overture Networks have the built-in advantages of low-latency, high availability, increased performance, and significant capital and operational savings over alternatives.
Carrier-grade Reliability
Because today’s business services are vital to the health of every organization, your customers can’t afford to experience an outage. That’s why at Overture Networks we develop our products with your high-availability services in mind.
All Overture products have a minimum of NEBS Level 3 compliance, and in many cases go well beyond those requirements for more demanding applications and international deployments.
Our edge (a.k.a. CPE) platforms and most aggregation platforms are field-proven in demanding and harsh outside plant environments. So they are especially reliable for “lights out” operation in enterprise wiring closets, basements or shop floors.
Among the hundreds features designed to increase reliably in our products are the following:
- Resilient Ethernet rings (G.8032)
- Ethernet link aggregation
- Ethernet SONET/SDH 1+1 APS
- Hot swappable interface modules
- Redundant and hot-swappable power supplies
- Resilient link and circuit bonding protocols (MLPPP, EFM, VCAT)
- Redundant switch fabrics and management processors
