RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., and LONDON, June 13, 2012 Overture, the preferred Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation partner for service providers and network operators worldwide, along with Colt Technology Services, the information delivery platform for European businesses, today announced they are the recipients of a 2012 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award in the “Best Business Service Innovation” category. Overture and Colt were recognized for their deployment of an Ethernet smart demarcation project designed to provide customers with increased service performance, and SLA reporting and service assurance to off-net locations across Europe and the U.S.

The Overture 20 series of optical Ethernet edge devices have been widely integrated both at Colt customer sites and at Ethernet External Network to Network Interfaces (ENNI) with selected network partners, providing service demarcation and remote end-to-end control while minimizing the need for site visits. Deployed on more than 200 of Colt’s Ethernet ENNIs and thousands of customer sites, Overture’s optical Ethernet edge devices are critical for Colt’s delivery of reliable, high-performance services.

Leveraging Overture’s demarcation devices, Colt’s off-net Ethernet service customers now benefit from an improved customer experience. For example, Colt is able to provide improved off-net SLA conformance by integrating the standards-based management functions adjacent to the customer interface on Colt’s equipment. This deployment is part of Colt’s continued commitment to deliver integrated network and compute services with a consistent end-to-end SLA both on- and off-net, independent of the customer site location.

“The ability to consistently deliver best-in-class service quality and performance, as well as the next-generation features that our customers demand is vital to Colt’s continued success in the global marketplace. An essential part of fulfilling this strategy is ensuring that our off-net customers experience the same level of exceptional service as our on-net users – something Overture has been instrumental in helping us achieve,” said Henry Bohannon, head of Ethernet and IP services, Colt. “We are pleased to have Overture as a trusted partner and honored by this acknowledgment confirming our longstanding market leadership in delivering best-in-class Ethernet services for organizations across Europe.”

“Business service applications require unfettered access to dependable, high-speed bandwidth and cutting-edge features, regardless of location or connection point within the network. Colt’s dedication to outstanding service delivery and continued technology innovation has made this a reality for thousands of their customers around the world,” said Jeff Reedy, CEO, Overture. “We’re very pleased to see Overture and Colt honored with this award.”

The annual Global Telecoms Business Innovation awards ceremony was held June 12, 2012, in London. Now in its sixth year, the awards recognize the most innovative advancements from service providers and equipment vendors at the frontier of today’s telecommunications landscape.
