Flexible Carrier Ethernet over TDM Aggregation
- Deliver high-speed, metro-class Ethernet services
- Use their installed SONET/SDH or Ethernet networks to support traditional voice and leased-line traffic, while moving towards a data-optimized network that can keep pace with customers’ bandwidth needs
- Transport multi-service traffic efficiently across a single network to reach all customers with the same services and the same service levels
Overview
Carrier Ethernet networks today require a solution that enables service providers and network operators to offer new high-speed packet services while continuing to support the large, existing demand for traditional voice, data and video services. The Overture 5100 is a multi-service edge and aggregation platform that allows carriers to deliver a full suite of advanced services economically, flexibly and reliably, whether the underlying infrastructure is SONET/SDH, PDH or Ethernet-based.
- 1st level aggregation for Ethernet over fiber, SONET/SDH and PDH
- Four (4) slot flexible chassis designed for medium to large customers
- Full suite of managed carrier-class Ethernet and TDM services
- High-availability platform, NEBS 3 certified
With the Overture 5100, service providers and network operators can create a secure, reliable network that resolves today’s multiservice challenges while continuing to set the stage for migration to next-generation networking.
Applications
The powerful Overture 5100 unit is NEBS 3 certified and accommodates up to four plug-in interface cards with a full range of Ethernet and TDM interfaces to support a variety of multi-service applications, including:
- Ethernet services over DS3 and SONET/SDH
- Multi-service Gigabit Ethernet
- Transparent LAN service
- IP/MPLS
- VPLS
Based on a flexible, IP centric architecture, the Overture 5100 uses programmable processors to support new protocols, interfaces and features as they emerge. The result is a flexible solution that supports diverse services and topologies, and can scale quickly and easily as the network evolves.
