Overture Networks recognizes that network management is a critical piece of the Ethernet services puzzle. Overture Networks' EdgeAware technology suite was developed to support this need for intelligent management and control at the customer edge. Aligned with the IEEE 802.3ah and Metro Ethernet Forum standards, EdgeAware provides management and control at a demarcation point that separates the provider’s network from the customer’s network.
EdgeAware provides carriers with the ability to manage, monitor and service both the connection to the customer on one side of the demarcation point, as well as the connection to the service provider on the other side.
EdgeAware is not an Element Management System (EMS) but rather a collection of tools and features designed to support the ISG product family and integrate into a service provider's already existing network management system. ISGs can also be managed by 3rd party systems such as:
