ISG5100

- 1st level aggregation for Ethernet over fiber, SONET/SDH and copper
- Four (4) slot flexible chassis designed for medium to large customers
- Full suite of managed carrier-class Ethernet and TDM services
- High-availability platform, NEBS 3 certified
- MPLS/VPLS support
Carrier Ethernet networks today require a solution that enables carriers to offer new high-speed packet services while continuing to support the large, existing demand for traditional voice, data and video services. Overture Networks has developed a multi-service access platform that allows carriers to deliver all of their metro services economically, flexibly and reliably, whether the underlying infrastructure is SONET/SDH or Ethernet-based.
The ISG 5100(an updated version of the ISG 5000) is a converged packet access platform that bridges TDM and packet worlds to deliver flexible, high-speed Ethernet and TDM services over metro backbones.
The Overture Networks ISG 5100 is optimized for medium to large enterprises, multi-tenant buildings or service aggregation. This powerful unit is NEBS 3 certified and accommodates up to four plug-in interface cards with a full range of Ethernet and TDM interfaces to support a variety of multi-service applications, including:
- Ethernet services over DS3 and SONET/SDH
- Multi-service Gigabit Ethernet
- T1, E1 or J1 transport over packet networks
- Transparent LAN service
- IP/MPLS
- VPLS
Based on a flexible, IP centric architecture, the ISG 5100 uses programmable processors to support new protocols, interfaces and features as they emerge. The result is a flexible solution that supports diverse services and topologies, and can scale quickly and easily as the network evolves.
The ISG 5100 enables service providers to:
- Deliver high-speed, metro-class Ethernet services
- Support traditional T1 (E1 or J1) circuit-based voice/data/video services over Ethernet/IP with the same “no compromise” quality and robustness as a circuit delivered in native TDM over SONET/SDH.
- Use their installed SONET/SDH or Ethernet networks to support traditional voice and leased-line traffic, while moving towards a data-optimized network that can keep pace with customers’ bandwidth needs.
- Transport multi-service traffic efficiently across a single network to reach all customers with the same services and the same service levels.
With the ISG 5100, service providers can create a secure, reliable network that resolves today’s multiservice challenges while continuing to set the stage for migration to next-generation networking.
