Overview

The Overture 65 series is the newest member of the Overture Open Service Delivery family. The next generation Ethernet Access Device (EAD) combines a state-of-the-art optical Ethernet features with a future-friendly design at an unprecedented value point. The Overture 65 is the ideal Carrier Ethernet on-ramp for performance-assured mobile backhaul and enterprise cloud services. It joins the Ensemble OSA™ and 6500 Service Delivery Platform as part of a complete solution for software-defined and virtualized services at the metro edge.

The Overture 65 series provides 1 GigE demarcation, business service and mobile backhaul with high performance OAM capabilities.

RICH SERVICE ASSURANCE FEATURES 
The Overture 65 offers with a full suite of CE2.0 demarcation features for class of service, service management and E-access service support. The Overture 65 raises the bar with hierarchical QoS and application layer SLA reporting via an sFlow agent. Integrated layer 3 features, including RIP, NAT, and multicast, eliminate the need for a CPE router.
 
UNMATCHED OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY 
The Overture 65 allows service providers to reduce OpEx and accelerate service activation through zero-touch commissioning, multi-operator OAM and integrated universal AC and DC power supplies. With ultra-low power usage and Green Ethernet, utility and battery backup costs are minimized.
 
GREATER CAPACITY
Available with up to 7 GigE ports and 7 Gpbs non-blocking switching fabric, the Overture 65 can serve as a managed switch as well as an aggregator in low-density small cell mobile backhaul applications. Support for up to 64 EVCs and 1024 QoS classification rules allows the Overture 65 to address simple demarcation applications and high density E-Access/ENNI service management and mini aggregation. 
 
EXCEPTIONAL PRECISION
The Overture 65 performs service OAM and IEEE1588v2 implementations in hardware, so there is no performance penalty on packet processing. This results in nanosecond accuracy for mobile synchronization and precision one-way delay measurements. In addition, the hardware architecture ensures less than three microseconds of latency – which is critical for delay-sensitive financial and mobile applications. 
 
SUPERIOR RELIABILITY
With support for G.8031 linear APS, G.8032v1 and G.8032v2 rings, as well as standard link aggregation, the Overture 65 facilitates highly resilient network topologies with sub-50ms failover. The extremely low-power consumption and fan-free design provides 99.999% service availability.
 
FORWARD-LOOKING ARCHITECTURE 
Many service providers plan to migrate VLAN-based Carrier Ethernet networks to a seamless MPLS environment. Other providers plan to create dynamic new services that take advantage of software-defined networking (SDN) and virtualization. With support for MPLS-TP, the Overture 65 offers a migration path to seamless MPLS networking. With integration with Overture’s Ensemble OSA, the Overture 65 ensures a path to software defined services and network functions virtualization.
